The Department of Mathematics started its journey in 1981 as the General subject, marched ahead and obtained approval for introducing Mathematics as the Honours subject in the year 1985. There are at present 44 sanctioned seats for Honours and two full-time teachers and one SACT in the Department. The Department has consistently produced competitive graduates with good knowledge in Mathematics throughout the years. Numerous students of the Department have established themselves in various sectors, especially as accomplished teachers in various Schools and Colleges.
Besides teaching, the Department organizes class-wise seminars, certificate courses and prepares students for Quiz competitions and Group discussions, so that they can keep pace with the time. Above all, the faculty members are always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to the students within and outside the campus as and when required. Consequently, students get through the final examination with flying colors every year and go for further higher studies. Apart from putting in constant sincere efforts to help the students, teachers here are constantly engaged in research activities and updating themselves on the latest in the subject.
Department at a Glance: The Department of Mathematics is an important platform for developing the mathematical sense, computer sense, resonance, critical thinking and problem solving techniques. The faculty members of the department carefully develop the students’ ability to intelligently communicate all the mathematical results because the mathematical background is the main key to get success in their academic life as well as professional life.
